In Memory of Rio Ballew

Tribute to Rio Ballew

To My Beloved Rio,

You were always at my side, like a constant in my life. From the moment we first met I fell in love with you. Even though you were Joe’s dog, you quickly became mine. You were my furry baby boy, my companion, my sleeping buddy, and my friend. You always gave unconditional love not only to your family but everyone around you. I will never stop missing you but take comfort in knowing that you are now free and no longer in any pain. You have given so much joy over the years. I feel that I have been blessed to have had you in my life. Though you aren’t with us in body we know that you are here in spirit. May God rest your sweet soul and put you at peace and be sure to give you as many steak dinners as you can eat. Heaven is truly lucky to have you.

Love, Mommy

Rio, Rio-as baby Belle would say, she still calls for you every morning and when we go on our walks. She saw your picture the other day and kissed it. Thank you for the care you shown her and the love you have instilled in her for animals.

Favorite Memories

Despite having a king size bed, Rio would always have to be right up against me or anyone for that matter. He loved the closeness and over time I also enjoyed the comfort of having him near. He also enjoyed sleeping under the covers.

Rio would spend time outside in his pen during our working hours. He befriended a stray cat, Scottie, which we adopted. The two of them were inseparable. We had never seen anything like it. We are sure it is due to his gentle nature. Scottie is now lost without his friend.

Rio loved going on car trips. The most memorable is when we took him to Florida and he got to see the beach for the first time.

Rio loved squeaky toys and when Joe or I would get home from work he would run back and forth with his toy, squeaking it in sheer delight.
