In Memory of Pup-Pup

IMG_143019551777214Pup, affectionately known as Pupples, came to us on a cool Thanksgiving day 16 years ago. My son, only 5 years old at the time, found Pup tied to a tree, behind a dumpster and dying of starvation and dehydration. I wasn’t doing very well that day and did not plan to eat dinner with my family due to that fact. Instead of moping around, I took care of this pitiful little guy. I gave him Pedialyte, then water, then finally food. I gave him a warm bath too. He enjoyed the leftover turkey and ham later that night..From that day on, he became my 3rd child. He loved going for walks but car rides were his absolute favorite thing, other than his Mommie and his favorite toy(a talking stuffed taco bell dog)He was also the best camp dog ever! He became an older(yet smaller) brother of a 2 week old bloodhound named Buddy almost 9 years ago. He taught his brother all the house rules, including the one about going potty outside and the other one about not stealing people food from his family. Taking care of Pupples has been a joy and a Blessing and I will never forget my little “red headed rat dog” as my Dad called him. I may have taken care of him but he did more for me and our family than I can ever put into words. To paraphrase one of my favorite songs “Hes gone to Heaven so Ive got to be good, so I can see my baby when I leave this world”
