May 1990 – June 23, 2007
Dusty came into our lives in Fall of 1990. His exact birth date is unknown because he was a rescue pup, so the Vet estimated he was around 6 months old. So we all pick his approximate birthday to be sometime in May of 1990. He was terrified of men, so we worked hard with a professional, gave him a lot of love and he came around to love all people. We were meant to have him to help him trust people again and he did just that.
He loved to run around the yard and have a Cairn Terrier “Spurt” as we called it. He would all of a sudden start running around after being loved on or scratched on. He did this in the house too, it was so funny. The other dogs would get out of his way so he could perform his “Spurt” of energy.
He always greeted us at the door when we came home from somewhere, be it work or running errands, barking and happy to see us with a smile on his face. He loved to sleep under furniture or between furniture and it was always cute to see him poking out from underneath the bed or between a table and chair.
Dusty was the perfect beggar, always knew that a pretty sit-up would get him a treat. He had this look when he did it that will always stay in our mind and hearts.
As he got older, arthritis started to set in and his eye site was getting worse. Dusty did his best until the end to get around with dignity and vigor.
He is in a better place now, free of pain, full sighted again and doing the Cairn Terrier Spurt, I am sure. I know he will be running around, back and forth, at the Rainbow Bridge when we arrive.
I miss you Dusty. Thanks for being such a wonderful dog, companion and fur friend.
