March 10, 1997 – December 13, 207
Choca was our first Labrador. He joined our family when we had one daughter and he was the only four-legged child. In December of 1999, Bubba, our yellow lab, joined the family. What a pair they were; sort of like salt and pepper. Rarely did you find one without the other.
Together they had fun and occasional mischief. Our second daughter joined our family in 2001. Then came Jake in 2005. He is our second black lab. How fun to see them all together. Two weeks before Choca passed away, we brought home Maggie. She is a tiny little Chorky (Yorkie and Chihuahua). I’m not sure if he ever figured out that she was a dog! We are sad they didn’t have more time to get to know each other. The point in naming everyone is to say that Choca was part of a family that loved him.
The fondest memories of him are on Lake Lanier. He spent many hours swimming, fishing, jumping off the dock (retrieving, no matter what it was, of course), playing in the rain and napping in the sun.
Choca was diagnosed with a brain tumor in November of 2007. We were able to have five extra weeks with him thanks to steroid therapy. His last couple of days were sad for him and the rest of us.
We miss him terribly but are thankful he is at peace now. He has left a void in our family, but we have chosen to keep him alive in our hearts and close to us with fond memories.
We would like to thank East Paulding Animal Hospital, Geargia Veterinary Specialists, Dr. John Lewis and Dream Land Pet Memorial Center for the care that you gave us and Choca. You all are awesome!
Choca, we hope that you are well and restored to good health. We believe there are tennis balls, lakes, plastic water bottles, and love where you are. See you at the rainbow bridge buddy. I’ll bring the popcorn! Love ya!
